The approach

What is it?

The Vibroacoustic Approach is a method of Receptive Music Therapy in which the therapist helps the patient enter states of receptivity and deep relaxation through vibroacoustic music and “sound bath” experiences.  Receptivity and deep relaxation are states of mental rest.

Depending on the clinical objectives, it can be used as a treatment in itself or as a clinical intervention administered at a given time of the patient’s therapeutic process.

The basic procedure of this clinical intervention involves having a patient lie on a bed where they perceive acoustic vibrations.

These vibrations are projected into the patient’s body through different vibroacoustic resources: the vibroacoustic bed, the harmonic bed, and through Tibetan singing bowls of low frequency and modulated sound.
